Community engagement

We are focused on meaningful work and the colleague experience specific to well-being, connectedness and growth for our 30,000 colleagues and communities worldwide.  

At Sedgwick, corporate citizenship is important to us.

We’ve had a longtime commitment to supporting our colleagues and communities around the world. We continue to expand the ways in which we engage our colleagues and support our global communities.

Our giving pillars

In 2022, we refreshed our corporate giving strategy, where we plan to continue taking care of our colleagues and communities by focusing our giving efforts around four key pillars that align with our core values: education, well-being, social services and sustainability. Each quarter, we’ll make a charitable donation to an organization that aligns with one of our pillars. For example, in the third quarter of 2022 and in alignment with our education pillar, we partnered with UNICEF for their backpack drive, which provides backpacks and other needed school supplies to children and teachers around the world. We’ve also partnered with an online giving platform that enables colleagues to donate to their favorite charities, start a fundraising campaign or contribute to other colleagues’ fundraising efforts – making it easier than ever for colleagues to make an impact. In addition, Sedgwick contributes to numerous other charitable organizations globally that are of importance to our colleagues, clients and communities.

Season of giving

Each year around the holiday season, we support an organization that is particularly meaningful to our company, colleagues and clients. In 2022, our colleagues voted to select Make-A-Wish® as our season of giving charity and recipient of our fourth quarter donation in alignment with our well-being giving pillar. We’re proud to support Make-A-Wish to highlight their work in granting life-changing wishes to children with critical illnesses, which improves the mental well-being of wish recipients and their families.

Community champions

We also introduced our new community champions program, where we celebrate and amplify the efforts of individual colleagues across the organization who are taking action in their immediate communities to give back and make an impact. Colleagues and their causes are featured on our ongoing wall of community champions and could also be considered for a charitable donation from Sedgwick.

Spotlight

For several years, our colleagues in the UK have supported the Alzheimer’s Society through awareness building, fundraising and volunteer campaigns.

Twenty-five percent of our UK colleagues are Dementia Friends, a designation obtained by completing Alzheimer’s Society training about dementia and how to help people living with it. We’ve applied what we’ve learned to develop guidelines for interacting with customers living with dementia.

Sedgwick Family Fund

2022 also marked the launch of the Sedgwick Family Fund, which demonstrates our unwavering commitment to taking care of our people by making assistance grants available to colleagues in need. Through an application process handled by an external grant expert, the Sedgwick Family Fund provides grants to qualifying members of our Sedgwick family who are experiencing a hardship. The fund is fueled by a combination of company donations and colleague contributions, giving colleagues the opportunity to show one another how caring counts during the times of greatest need.
